Abstract: Objective To investigate the current situation of schools for pregnant women in hospitals in Chongqing,so as to provide basic data for formulation and improvement of relevant policies.Methods The basic situation of the institutions,the management of pregnant women's schools,the hardware facilities of schools for pregnant women and the curriculum of schools for pregnant women in Chongqing were analyzed by descriptive analysis.Results In 2018,26.14%(269/1029) of the medical and health institutions offering maternal health care services in the whole city set up schools for pregnant women,and 51.67% of schools for pregnant women have no independent sites. There are 1469 teachers in pregnant women's school in the city,with significantly statistical differences in the nature of teaching staff(χ²= 13.873,P<0.05),educational background composition(χ²= 275.043,P<0.05) and title composition(χ²= 97.173,P<0.05) among different levels of institutions. In 2017,a total of 8604 courses were offered and 259 583 attendees attended. The courses covered nutrition during pregnancy and childbirth,prenatal examination,breastfeeding,natural childbirth and neonatal care. There were significant differences in the number of courses offered in schools for pregnant women among different levels of institutions(χ²= 57.225,P<0.05).Conclusion Schools for pregnant womenschools for pregnant women All schools for pregnant womenshould further improve the richness of pregnant women school curricula,strengthen the school hardware facilities and teacher capacity-building in schools for pregnant women in this institution,actively carry out large-scale publicity activities,enrich activities of pregnant women school,and provide standardized maternal health care knowledge and health education.
