Ayres

Effects of Ayres sensory integration therapy on short range intervention in children with developmental coordination disorder

Abstract: Objective To observe the effect of Ayres sensory integration therapy on short range intervention in children with developmental coordination disorder. Methods From August 2018 to June 2020, 152 children with DCD who aged 3 to 6 and met the diagnostic criteria ofDSM-5 in the Department of Child Health Care of Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital of Nantong were selected as the research subjects. They were divided into two groups randomly. 76 cases in control group, other 76 cases were implemented routine sensory inteqration therapy, the experimental group were implemented Ayres sensory integration therapy. The children before and after treatment action were carried out coordination standard test(MABC-2) and Sensory Processing test(chipmaker Processing Measure, SPM). Results The results of MABB-2 in the experimental group and the control group showed that fine hand movement and standing on one leg were significantly improved, but the effect of intervention in the experimental group was more obvious and the difference was statistically significant. In the experimental group, sensory processing comprehensive(t= 6. 349,P< 0. 05), proprioceptive function(t= 5. 233,P< 0. 05), vestibular function(t= 5. 142,P< 0. 05) and motor planning(t=4. 326,P< 0. 05) in the SPM questionnaire after treatment were all lower than those before treatment, and the differences were statisti cally significant. Conclusion Compared with traditional sensory integration therapy, Ayres sensory integration therapy can better improve the clinical symptoms and sensory integration ability of children with DCD, and it can be used as a therapeutic technique in the intervention therapy of children with DCD.
