Correlation between early threatened abortion and micro-nutrient levels in early pregnancy

Abstract: Objective To explore the correlation between early threatened abortion and early pregnancy micro-nutrients,so as to provide clinical evidence for the prevention of threatened abortion. Methods Pregnant women who underwent early pregnancy examination and whose peripheral blood samples were preserved at Lianyungang Maternal and Child Health Hospital,Jiangsu province from May 2020 to June 2021 were followed up until delivery.Totally 80 pregnant women with normal delivery and good pregnancy outcome were recruited as research subjects.According to whether or not having threatened abortion in the early pregnancy, they were divided into two groups:45 cases in the normal pregnancy group and 35 cases in the early threatened abortion group. The contents of trace elements and vitamins in early pregnancy were compared between the two groups. Results The content of blood copper in the normal pregnancy group was (1 271.39±147.33)μg/L,which was significantly higher than that in the early threatened abortion group(1 173.85±197.65)μg/L(P<0.05).The content of blood lead in the normal pregnancy group was (7.71±1.89)μg/L,which was significantly lower than that in the early threatened abortion group (9.95±3.89)μg/L(P<0.05).The contents of blood copper and lead in both groups were within the normal range, however the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (all i>P<0.05).Other trace elements such as zinc, calcium, magnesium, iron, manganese and vitamins A,B1,B2,B9,B12,D2,D3,D,E and K were not significantly different between the two groups (all P>0.05). Conclusion Low blood copper or high blood lead concentration in early pregnancy are associated with early threatened abortion.Increasing intake of copper element and reducing intake of lead element during pregnancy preparation or early pregnancy have a positive effect on the prevention of early threatened abortion.
