Abstract:
Objective To analyze the current situation of human resources of maternal and child health(MCH) care services at the grass-roots level (township and community health centers) in Changde, Hunan, so as to provide evidence for MCH care planning and implementation policy-making.
Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted to investigate the special staffing of MCH personnel in township and community health centers in Changde in 2021 through a questionnaire of MCH human resource. Relevant information was analyzed.
Results There were 215 township and community health centers in Changde, with a total of 563 MCH service workers, with an average of 2.6 MCH care workers in each institution in 2021. Their age was mainly 40 - 50 years old (42.8%). Female staff accounted for 97.7%. 546 (97.0%) were medical professionals. Most of them were junior professional titles (71.9%) and college degree educational background (75.3%).
Conclusion Primary medical institutions in Changde, Hunan Province are short of MCH care staff, especially high-level professionals. It is suggested to increase the staffing of grassroots MCH care personnel, establish practical personnel training mechanism so as to promote the development of MCH care.
