Abstract:
Objective To investigate the correlation between breast milk composition and galactostasis during lactation.
Methods The lactating women who received postpartum examination and treatment (after birth ≤ 42 d) were selected from department of mammary gland of Urumqi maternal and child health care hospital, Xinjiang from March 2015 to October 2016.According to the exclusion criteria, the lactating women were divided into 2 groups (galactostasis group and control group). There were 250 women in each group. The breast milk compositions of the two groups were analyzed using MR-1001 breast milk composition analyzer.
Results The fat, protein, energy and density of the galactostasis group were higher than that in control group. The water of the galactostasis group was lower than the control group. There was significant difference between the two groups (
P<0.05).There was no significant difference in lactose and minerals of the breast milk between the two groups (
P>0.05).
Conclusion The proportion of breast milk components is related to the occurrence of galactostasis. To make an individualized diet with objective, scientific and reasonable scheme can effectively reduce the incidence of mammary gland disease. It is also significant to improve the exclusive breastfeeding rate and the quality of breastfeeding.
