Abstract:
Objective To understand the current situation of midwifery comprehensively in Guangdong Province, and provide the basis for optimizing the allocation of resources, hierarchical management of midwifery institution and the effective response to the implementation of comprehensive Two-child Policy.
Methods To investigate the related contents of all the midwifery institutions in Guangdong province, including the category, the level, the obstetrics beds, human resource and the number of delivery, and analysis the situation of different regions, categories and levels of allocation of resources and service ability.
Results The distribution of midwifery service resources was uneven, the obstetrics bed was 0. 42 per thousand usual residents, doctor-nurse ratio was 1:1. 1, the capacity of midwifery service self-rated as first level, second level and third level were 1078 (56. 7%), 587 (30. 9%) and 164 (8. 6%), 73 institutions (3. 8%) did not meet the primary standard, and the number of doctors and nurses per thousand deliveries decreased along with the increased of institution's level, and the doctor-nurse ratio rose. First level and second level midwifery institutions had larger space to cope with the increase in the amount of delivery.
Conclusions The distribution of midwifery service resources was uneven, deficiency and excess. The policy support and financial investment should be strengthened to first level and second level midwifery institutions, to promote the landing of the graded clinics and improve the ability to cope with the comprehensive Two-child policy.
