Abstract:
Objective To evaluate the implementation effect of the project
Improving Hospital Delivery Rate of Pregnant Women in 31
Counties of the Minority Concentrated Region in Sichuan Province, and to provide the evidence for the extension and application of the project.
Methods The data were obtained from the project management information of the Sichuan provincial Health and Family Planning Commission and the Annual Report of Maternal and Child Health Information in Sichuan Province from 2009 to 2015. The implementation of the project, the achievement of the goals, and the tendency of the hospital delivery rate were analyzed.
Results By 2015, all of the 31 project counties achieved the goal of increasing hospital delivery rate. The difference of the hospital delivery rate before and after the project was statistically significant (
χ2=22501.71,
P< 0.001). The hospital delivery rates of the project counties showed an increasing trend yearly (
χ2=35054.88,
P< 0.005).
Conclusion The implementation of
Improving Hospital Delivery Rate Project of the Minority Concentrated Region promoted the hospital delivery among pregnant women in the 31 project counties, improved the hospital delivery rate of the ethnic areas. It had reached the anticipated goal. However, compared with the provincial hospital delivery rate, the hospital delivery rate in the ethnic areas is still lower. It is necessary to improve the implementation measures of the project and access the related policies for further support during the extension and application of the project.
