Abstract:
Objective To examine the general situation of the common mental and behavior problems among children in 4kindergartens in Beijing, and to study the risk factors related to the mental and behavior problems among children in kindergarten.
Methods Cluster sampling method was used in this study, and 766 children in 4 kindergartens in Beijing were selected for the investigation. Strength and Difficulty Questionnaire were used for investigating the information of mental, individual, family and social were collected from the children.
Results The average age of the children participating in the study was (4. 02 ± 0. 82) years old, and 50. 1% of them were boys, and 49. 9% of them were girls. A total of 6. 01% of the children were classified as "abnormal" and 9. 01% were classified as "borderline" in the total difficulties score. The proportion of "borderline or abnormal" in peer relationship problems was 34. 2%.
Conclusions The prevalence of mental and behavior problems was high among children in kindergarten in Beijing, it should be paid more attention to intervene the mental and behavior problems with children.
