The status of weight and length growth and feeding patterns of 323 infants aged 1-2 months in Beijing

  • Objective To understand the weight and length growth of infant aged 1-2 months,to explore the relationship between infant physical growth and feeding pattern and to provide reference for children health care work. Methods The physical examination data of infants born in an urban area hospital of Beijing and who came to the hospital from August 2017 to July 2019 for health examination at the age of 1-2 months were used to analyze the baby's weight, length and feeding patterns. Results Among the 323 infants, the rate of exclusive breastfeeding was 59. 4%,and there was no significant difference in exclusive breastfeeding rate between male and female infants. (χ2= 3. 321,P = 0. 190). The body weight and length of boys at the age of 1-2 months and the growth of weight and length from 1 to 2 months after birth were significantly higher than those of girls. There was statistical difference (P<0. 05). The body weight and body weight growth of male and female infants from 1 to 2 months in the exclusive breastfeeding group were significantly higher than those in the non-exclusive breastfeeding group. There was statistical difference (P< 0. 05).Conclusions Breastfeeding is beneficial to infant's physical development. Breastfeeding rates need to be further improved. Measures to promote breastfeeding should be further strengthened in order to improve breastfeeding rate.
