Investigation and analysis on knowledge,attitudes and practice of oral health care among 198 pregnant women

Objective To investigate the knowledge,attitudes and practice of oral health care among pregnant women.Methods From June 2018 to May 2019,a total of 198 pregnant women with 10-14 weeks gestational age accepted a questionnaire survey. The data were collated and analyzed.Results About knowledge of oral healthcare,61. 54% of participants thought that oral examination was necessary before pregnancy,33. 33% didn't know that oral diseases were prone to occur after pregnancy,only 43. 59% knew that oral diseases during pregnancy would affect fetal health,48. 72% thought that oral treatment was not allowed during pregnancy. About the attitudes related to oral healthcare,28. 21% of participants had negative attitude towards oral health education activities,and 28. 21% were unwilling to visit a doctor for oral problems during pregnancy. In terms of oral health-related behaviors,10. 26% of participants brushed their teeth only once a day,only 3. 59% brush their teeth for more than 2 minutes each time,56. 41% never use dental floss,and 53. 85% have never done oral examination since planned to get pregnancy.Conclusion There are still many deficiencies in the knowledge,attitude and practice of oral health care among pregnant women,especially in the oral health care behavior,which needs to be improved urgently.
