Study and application of psychological intervention of sand table games on anxiety and depression of pregnant women infected with HIV

  • Objective To investigate the effects of psychological intervention of sand-playing on anxiety and depression of pregnant women with HIV infection,to improve the quality of life of HIV infected pregnant women,and to reduce or prevent the occurrence of maternal anxiety and depression of HIV infection.Methods A total of 60 HIV antibody positive pregnant women with anxiety and depression were selected. Among them,30 cases were selected as the experimental group and 30 cases as the control group. The study was approved by the ethics committee of the hospital,and the patients and their family members signed the voluntary participation in the experiment and informed consent before the study began. All the participants were assessed on the self-rating anxiety Scale (SAS)and the self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) before treatment and those with scores above 50 and 53 were selected as subjects,respectively. In the control group,the participants received routine prenatal examination,maternal and infant blocking prevention treatment and health consultation at 14 weeks and 28 weeks of gestation.,while the experimental group received once sandbox game psychological intervention treatment by professional psychological counselors on the basis of the control group. After each intervention,anxiety and depression were assessed. The psychological test results before and after the intervention of the two groups were compared.The effects of the two groups were evaluated.Results The anxiety and depression scores of pregnant women in both groups decreased after treatment,but the scores of anxiety and depression in the experimental group were significantly lower than that in the control group. There was no statistically significant difference in anxiety and depression scores between the two groups before intervention (P >0. 05),but there was statistically significant difference after intervention (P<0. 01). The scores of anxiety and depression in the experimental group before and after intervention were statistically significant difference (P<0. 01).Conclusion Psychological intervention of sand table games can improve the anxiety and depression of pregnant women with HIV infection,increase their confidence in their future life and insisting on treatment,and increase their life quality.
