Study on the awareness,willingness to pay and satisfaction with non-invasive prenatal testing among parturient woman in southwest region

Objective To study parturient women's awareness, willingness to pay and satisfaction for non-invasive prenatal genetic testing(NIPT), and influencing factors of satisfaction with NIPT.Methods A questionnaire survey was performed on 1201 women in the Maternal and Child Health Hospital in southwest China. A binary logistic regression model was established to analyze the influencing factors of satisfaction.Results 1197 valid questionnaires were collected with the valid rate of 99.7%. The awareness rate of NIPT reached 88.5%. The main way was through doctors to obtain NIPT information. The average willingness to pay for NIPT was￥1091 per time, and 84.5% of women were willing to pay personally when its price was ￥900 per time. The satisfaction of parturient women with NIPT showed that the average score of satisfaction rate was low at 3.83 points(out of 5 points), the satisfaction rate of NIPT charges was the lowest(3.36 points), and the satisfaction of nurses' service attitude and the interpretation of NIPT result were the highest(3.96 points). The higher the knowledge of NIPT and traditional Down's screening, the lower the satisfaction of parturient woman with NIPT. There was no significant difference in the satisfaction of NIPT caused by the place of residence of pregnant women and the type of medical insurance they participated in.Conclusion On the basis of China's Maternal and Child Health Service Network,the publicity channels of NIPT should be expanded to improve the awareness of pregnant women. Meanwhile, in order to improve the NIPT's satisfaction and promote the application of NIPT in clinical practice, policy-makers should explore appropriate NIPT payment methods, combining the local economic level and the willingness to pay of pregnant women.
