Analysis on the influencing factors of overweight and obesity of preschool children in Shenzhen

  • Objective To explore the influencing factors of overweight and obesity in preschool children in Shenzhen, in order to provide scientific basis for prevention and intervention of overweight and obesity in children. Method Seven hundred and thirty-seven overweight and obese were selected from seventeen kindergartens in Shenzhen by cluster sampling method, and 737 children with normal weight were selected as the control group. Logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the influencing factors of overweight and overweight. Result Logistic regression analysis showed that parental obesity, low educational level of caregivers, preference for fried food and low dairy intake were independent risk factors of overweight and obesity in preschool children. Outdoor exercise was protective factor. Conclusion The overweight and obesity in preschool children arecaused by multiple factors. Comprehensive measures should be taken for the prevention of overweight and obesity in preschool children from the perspectives of rational diet,physical activitiesandhealth education.
