Investigation on maternal health care situation of 1230 pregnant women in Yangjiang City

Abstract
Objective To understand the current maternal health care situation of 1,220 pregnant women in Yangjiang City, and provide a basis for improving the quality of health care during pregnancy and childbirth. Method The stratified cluster random sampling method was used to conduca household cross-sectional survey among, 1,230 pregnant, based on women in 3 counties(districts) in Yangjiang City. The contents of the questionnaire included basic information, maternal health care knowledge and service status during pregnancy, and health status during pregnancy and childbirth. Result There were 1,220 valid questionnaires in this study. The overall awareness rate of maternal health knowledge was not high, with an average of 62. 7%. During pregnancy, only68. 2% of the people who performed the antenatal examination on time after the establishment of the "Maternal Health Management Manual". The cesarean section rate was 54. 3%, and the postpartum hemorrhage accounted for 9. 2%. 64. 6% had insufficient or excessive weight gain during pregnancy. The proportion of macrosomia was 15.3%. The place of residence, ethnicity, birth history,education level and family income were the main factors affecting knowledge about pregnancy and reproductive health. Conclusion It is necessary to further strengthen interventions and standardize maternal health care services, and improve the awareness of maternal health care in order to improve maternal and infant health.
