Compared the knowledge,attitude and practices in asthmatic children’s parents in Kashgar and Guangzhou

Objective To learn the differences on the knowledge, attitude and practice of asthmatic children's parents in Kashgar and Guangzhou. Methods The survey was conducted in the First People's Hospital of Kashgar and Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital of Guangdong Province from June to November in 2020. Results A total of 155 parents who mainly cared for children with asthma were interviewed. 153 provided valid questionnaires, with an effective rate of 98. 71%. Among surveyed parents, the proportions of grandparents and the education below high-middle school is higher in Kashgar than in Guangzhou, and the proportion of family allergic diseases is also higher in Kashgar than in Guangzhou. Less parents of children with asthma in Kashgar know the nature of asthma, treatment goal, current state of good or complete control, first-line control drug, safety of long-term ICS application guided by doctors, ability to do exercises during stable asthma than in Guangzhou(all P< 0. 05). The proportion of children in Kashgar who insist on inhaling ICS, regular follow-up visits, avoiding tobacco smoke and allergens were also significantly lower than that in Guangzhou(all P< 0. 05). Conclusion The knowledge,attitude and practice level of parents of children with asthma in Kashgar is obviously lower than those of Guangzhou, and asthma management and education in Kashgar should be strengthened.
