Impacts of screen exposure on early childhood development

  • With the rapid development of information technology, the age of children's screen exposure is getting younger and younger, and the duration and frequency of exposure are increasing. The age of 0 - 3 is a key period for child's development. Proper care and parenting may improve longtime health. Early childhood development is closely associated with life circumstance, in which the screen exposure may affect child's lifestyle, physical and neuropsychological development. But till now, large sample studies are not enough, and the conclusions are not consistent. This paper searches literature and reviews the current situation of screen exposure in children, the risk factors of screen exposure and its impact on child obesity, psychological behavior, language, exercise, and sleep, in order to provide evidence for researching the impact of screen exposure on early childhood development.
