Exploration of the diagnostic criteria of gestational diabetes mellitus in twin pregnancies based on its incidence and perinatal outcomes

  • Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is prone to occur in twin pregnancies than in singleton pregnancy. GDM is closely related to adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes in singleton pregnancy, while there are different views on the impact of GDM in twin pregnancies. The optimal screening timing, diagnostic criteria and management object of blood glucose in singleton and twin pregnancies are not identical. At present, there are no recognized or feasible screening procedures, diagnostic criteria or treatment strategy for GDM in twin pregnancies. Our study reviews the current incidence, diagnostic criteria and impact of GDM on perinatal outcomes in twin pregnancies, so as to provide evidence for clinical diagnosis and management of this disease.
