Investigation and analysis of sexual knowledge and sexual health education among college students in Hunan

Objective To understand the current situation of sexual knowledge and sexual health education among college students in Hunan Province.Methods A questionnaire survey of sexual knowledge and sexual health education was conducted among 2128 college students in four universities in Hunan Province.Results The scores of sexual physiology knowledge of the subjects were not high, the sexual psychology was immature, and the sexual behaviors tended to be open. For the reasons of having sex, 18. 6% were out of curiosity, and 14. 9% of them were lonely or mentally empty. About 47. 7% of the boys and 26. 5% of girls claimed they had never received sex education given by their parents, and the differences between them were statistically significant (P≤ 0. 05).Conclusion The level of sexual knowledge among college students in Hunan is not high, and the sexual health education is poor. It needs to be paid attention of family, school and society, so as to promote the healthy growth of college students.
