Analysis on blood lead level of 17858 children in Hengyang city of Hunan province

  • Objective To explore blood lead levels of children in Hengyang City and to provide scientific evidence for the prevention and treatment of lead poisoning.Methods The blood lead levels of 17 858 children in the outpatient clinic of children's health care were tested with Graphite furnace method by MG2 lead-cadmium analyzer from July 2015 to June 2017. The blood lead levels were compared among different genders and ages children.Results The blood lead levels of children in Hengyang City were 0-465.66μg/L, and the average blood lead level was (46.76 ± 27.43) μg/L. There were 17350 children with normal blood lead, accounting for 97.16%. There were 10435 boys with blood lead level of (47.36 ± 27.59) μg/L, and 7423 girls with blood lead level of (45.92 ± 27.19) μg/L. Blood lead levels in different genders were statistically significant (P< 0.01). There was no significant difference in lead abnormality between different genders (P> 0.05). There were significant differences in lead abnormalities among different age groups (P< 0.01).Conclusions With the increase of age, children's blood lead level gradually increases. The blood lead level of school-age children is the highest.
