Analysis of maternal mortality in Hefei during 2009-2015

Objective To analysis the data of maternal death in Hefei from 2009 to 2015,to know the cause of death and provide effective intervention measures in order to control maternal death.Methods The related information was retrospectively analyzed by collecting the data of maternal death from 2009 to 2015 in Hefei.Results During the seven years,40 pregnant women died and the average maternal mortality was 10.17 in hundred thousand.The top three causes of death were obstetric hemorrhage,amniotic fluid embolism and pulmonary embolism.52.5% of the pregnant women were junior middle school and the following,40% of them were housewives or unemployed;34 pregnant women had received prenatal examination,and 35.3% of them received prenatal examination less than five times;67.65% maternal deaths of the cases had been avoided.Conclusion The comprehensive service ability of obstetric should be further improved,and perinatal care and health education should be strengthened,these measures are the keys to reducing maternal mortality.
