Analysis of variation of numbers of outpatients from 2012 to 2016 at a first-class grade 3 women and children's health care hospital of Hunan province

Objective To understand the variation of outpatients and department distribution at women and children's health care hospital.Methods Annual statistic data of medical quality and safety management from 2012 to 2016 at a first class grade 3 women and children's health care hospital were collected. Time series season index method was analyzed the data.Results The number of out-patients had been increasing from 2012 to 2016. The monthly season index showed that January and February were the off-season time. The busty seasons of outpatient clinic were March, May, August and December. The busy season of emergency was from May to July. Analysis of the department distribution suggested that the patients were mainly from the departments of gynecology, obstetrics, child health care and genetics.Conclusions The hospital managers should adjust the medical resources according to the rule of variation of outpatients and department distribution.
