Abstract
Objective To evaluate the impacts of perinatal factors on refractive status among 0-6 children, and provide a basis for making effective refractive health-care strategies. Methods A total of 1000 children were selected from communities and kindergartens by cluster sampling.Refraction was examined by Welch-Allyn SureSight hand-held autorefractor and perinatal risk factors were investigated by questionnaire.MANOVA and univariate test were conducted to explore the association between refraction and factors. Results The MANOVA results showed that birth weight, medical history of fetus, parents'oculopathy impacts on refraction.Univariate test results indicated that spherical lens diopter varied with the number of fetuses, medical history of fetus, delivery age and parents'oculopathy, while cylindrical equivalent was related to birth weight, number of fetuses and medical history of fetus. Conclusion Some perinatal conditions are risk factors for refractive status.Perinatal health care and early ophthalmological follow-up should be enhanced.
