Effects of early intestinal infinitesimal breast feeding and formula on feeding intolerance in premature infants

Objective To explore the effect of early intestinal infinitesimal breast milk and formula feeding on feeding intolerance in premature infants.Methods 76 cases of preterm infants with feeding intolerance were recruited in our hospital from January 2016 to December 2016. They were randomly divided into study group and control group (n=38). Children in the control group were given early intestinal infinitesimal formula, and the children in the study group were given early intestinal infinitesimal breast feeding. The growth and development, the gastrointestinal feeding tolerance and the incidence of complications of the two groups were compared.Results After feeding, the body weight, head circumference and body length of the study group were significantly better than those of the control group (P<0.05). The tolerance rates of vomiting, bloating and dairy retention in the study group were significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The incidences of neonatal enteritis, necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) and retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) in the study group were significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion Early intestinal infinitesimal breast feeding can significantly promote the growth and development of children, improve thefeeding tolerance and reduce the incidence of complications. It is worth to be widely applied in the clinic.
