Epidemiological investigation and influencing factor analysis of pediatirc asthma among 0-14 year-old children in Dong Guan City

Objective To investigate the status of pediatirc asthma among 0-14 year-old children in Dong Guan,and to analyze its risk factors,in order to provide a reference for preventing asthma in Dong Guan.Methods A total of 9974 0-14 year-old children in Dong Guan were selected by cluster sampling method,the morbidity rate,risk factors and financial burden of asthma were analyzed,and the data were obtained by uniform trained investigator and specialist physicians.Results The morbidity rate of asthma was 3.18%(317/9974),which was 3.81%(201/5373) in boys and 2.47%(116/4701) in girls,the ratio of the morbidity rate was 1.73∶ 1,the difference was statistically significant (P=0.000).The difference among each age groups were statistic ally significant,and the 3-6 age group had the highest morbidity rate,which was 5.72%(180/3147).The major risk factors were inhaled allergens,food allergens,respiratory-tract infection and breathing in cold air.The average hospitalization costs of asthma was 3047.3 ±980.6 yuan/man-years,the difference among each age groups was not statistically significant (P>0.05).Conclusion This study collected the epidemiological data of pediatric asthma among 0-14 year-old children in Dong Guan,and provide a reference for the control of asthma.
