The strategy and effect of women and children's health care quality management and continuous improvement

  • Objective To explore the main practices and effectivenesss of health care quality management and continuous improvement in the "four departments" of The Maternal And Child Health (MCH) Hospital of Hunan Province.Methods The strategies and results of the health care quality management from the aspects of organizational structure, system and responsibilities, systemic activities of quality management and continuous improvement were comprehensively summarized and analyzed.Results MCH Hospital of Hunan Province promoted the continuous improvement of quality of health care by adopting comprehensive measures such as constructing the three-levels organization of quality management, regulating health care system and responsibilities, organizing health care quality analysis conferences, regularly organizing health care rounds, optimizing work process, and continuous improvement of training and supervision work. In 2017, the maternal mortality rate, the under-five-year-old child mortality rate and the infant mortality rate in Hunan were 12.70/100 000, 4.89‰ and 3.10‰, respectively, which were better than the national average. In 2017, the average degree of satisfaction was 94% of the department of health of The MCH Hospital of Hunan Province, and it was stable at a relatively high level. In 2017, through continuous improvement of supervision in the area, the primary health care institutions to rectify more than 50 problems were supervised.Conclusion The health care quality management model of The Hunan M CH Hospital performed well, effectively improved the service quality of group health care and individual health care, and promoted continuous quality improvement of PDCA.
